DESCRIPTION

Gloss & Glass

Saturday, June 5

Section 1

The world is full of see-through and shiny surfaces that can be seductive to the eye yet baffling to draw and paint. In this workshop you'll start with basic perspective and light logic to make sense of shiny and transparent objects.

You'll find out about reflections and examine
which aspects of high gloss planes to pay attention to, which to simplify and which to ignore. Find out how to control and depict the effects of transparency, with a special look at liquid in glass containers.

Finally, you'll explore how to use glossy and glassy objects deliberately and creatively in your compositions. The class will focus on drawing, with an additional segment on color in the afternoon for those who wish to paint.

Guided Practice Day
Sunday, June 6
Mentored studio day open to all students.
Practice what you learned in Gloss & Glass class, or choose from still life, landscape, or reproductions. Request exercises in technique, perspective, basic volumes, composition, or work on your own project with guidance on hand. You can draw, paint or collage. Enjoy a friendly but structured environment with a high degree of individual attention.
